Per Ohio Revised Code 3313.60, Ohio Public K - 12 schools are required to offer students age appropriate education on sexual and dating abuse and violence. Each district will provide this education on an annual basis. For our students in grades seven through twelve, we will offer developmentally appropriate instruction in dating and sexual violence prevention education. This shall include recognizing dating violence warning signs and characteristics of healthy relationships. Parents may elect to opt their student(s) out of this education. Students will participate in the lessons and/or activities for these state requirements unless a parent/guardian completes the opt form excusing their child(ren) at the bottom of this sheet. For students in grades seven through twelve, there will be a lesson presented to the student body on Thursday, May 9, 2024. If a parent/guardian has questions about this curriculum or law, please contact the superintendent at 740-374-6500 ext 8013. Anyone wanting to opt their child out will need to return this form to the main office by Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

April is Autism Awareness Month and we want to make sure we acknowledge, celebrate and educate all of our students about the wonderful minds of individuals on the spectrum. So in the spirit of the month all of our schools will be participating in a spirit week! Next week, each day will have a theme for students who choose to participate, these range from wear a fun hat to wearing clothes with something you love on it. Take a look at what each day will entail and explain to your student how their outfit each day fits into this spirit week and Autism Awareness Month!

We are looking for parents/guardians to be mentors for 7th grade students at MHS through the BB2C Parent Mentor Volunteer Program. These mentors work with students one on one or in a group with our students. A parent/volunteer would meet with their student one time a week here at the school, talk with the student, teach them about career options, and be that support for these students. We would love to have many of you come and be part of us! The BB2C program will offer training that will help anyone who volunteers to be successful! All Marietta City School District bus routes will be returning to normal starting this afternoon, thank you!

Marietta City School District will be in session after a 2-hour delay this morning but there will be several bus routes that will still be impacted by flooding. Anything North of Washington Street on the West Side (Gilman, Oak Grove, etc.) will be unable to be reached. We will have a bus picking up from The Boys and Girls Club, so students dropped off there may be bussed to school. The pickup time will be 8:30 a.m. for High School students and 10:30 a.m. for Elementary School students. Any student who can't be picked up by bus can call in for an excused absence. Thank you
